Warship Game

Theme: Naval Warfare

About this game

This fairly simple game was included in Boys Club magazine in 1925. The titled Battleships are relegated to small silhouettes in the background. Most of the artwork focuses on civilian vessels at sea and aircraft and an airship in the sky. It shows pilots voluntarily parachuting from planes - a very new practice at the time.

Mechanism

Move and capture

Rules

A variant of "16 Musashi": 16 small battleships try to surround the single large one. Each player moves a single piece one space in turn. The big battleship starts in the middle; the small ones on the edges of the square. The small battleships win by surrounding the large one so that it cannot move. The large one captures (removes) two of its attackers by moving between them, and wins by destroying enough attackers that it cannot be surrounded.
