About this game

This rare military-themed race game comes in a wooden box with wooden pieces. It uses an unusual die with faces are marked: R, G, H, L, K and E, which stand for rechts, gradaus, halt, links, kehrt, eilmarsch, meaning right, forward, stop, left, turn around, hurry. This die determines which direction each player's soldier must move. The game clearly was published after the Crimean War, as the bottom of the box has a regular Belagerungsspiel themed on the siege of Sevastopol.

Rules

Each player puts money in the pot, and then roll the die in turn. Rolling R or L means moving up a green line to the right or left. G means moving one ahead on a red line, and E means two spots forward. H means stay in place, and K forces the player's piece back by one along a green line. There is an odd payout. Whichever player first reaches an uppermost red point gets a quarter of the pot (25%); second gets half of the remainder (37.5%), third three quarters of what's left (28%) and last the remainder 9.5%).
