International Game of Spy

About this game

This game takes the hidden set-up mechanism of L'Attaque/Stratego and turns it into a 4-player contest. Each player has two target spaces (Palace and Coat of Arms) within a triangle of the board. Much of the border between players is blocked by lakes, mountains or forts, forcing much of the action toward the middle. Pieces have values of 1-10, plus some with special powers, mounted on small cardboard circles.

Rules

Each player sets up secretly. Players in turn move a single piece one space. If they move into a space occupied by an opposing piece, they can ask "Who's There?" Both pieces are revealed, with lower or tied value removed. Combat is optional and more than one piece may occupy a space. Secret Police cannot be lost, but captures only an opposing Spy. Winner is first to occupy either target space of any player.
