About this game

This ironclad-era naval game is more about showing the flag to win hearts and minds than bombarding and capturing cities. Two tracks of hexagonal spaces run around England, Scotland and Wales. Black lines connect coastal cities to hexes on the two tracks. Each hexagon is in one of 6 colors: blue, green, red, brown, white and yellow. One die has faces in the six colors; the other, numbers from 1-5 and G for Gale. There are four painted metal ships as playing pieces.

Roll and Move

Rules

Players place their ironclads on starting hexes off Penzance and move clockwise or counter-clockwise on the inner or outer track. In turn, they roll both dice: for example, Red 4 means moving to the fourth red space along the track, making it possible to go halfway round the board on a single turn. Passing a city allows placing a token or removing an opposing one. A player placing two tokens on a city captures it permanently. Game ends when all are captured. Player with the most cities wins.
