About this game

This pre-WWII Italian title is a fairly sophisticated wargame. The detailed topographical map shows elevation, rivers, lakes and marshes, primary and secondary roads, and defensive wire and trench lines. Also marked are bases, airfields, and ammunition dumps. The metal pieces represent cavalry, infantry (including elite troops such as Bersaglieri, machineguns, field and heavy artillery, anti-aircraft guns, tanks, air squadrons and supply trucks.

Rules

Each player in turn rolls 2D6. The total is the combined limit for both movement and attack. Most units move only one square per pip, but cavalry moves 2, tanks 3 and airplanes 4. An attack requires 2 pips. Artillery units can attack at range but have only 6 units of fire, after which they must be replenished by a truck convoy from the ammo dump. There are special rules for air, which must be able to return to base or crash, and may be intercepted by enemy air or anti-aircraft guns (potentially causing damage in the form of lost fuel pips). The winner is the first to occupy the enemy's two bases.
