About this game
This was a training game published early in WWII by the German army. The board was bland and the pieces cardboard, but adapts chess-type movement to a game themed on tactical warfare. The title comes from a popular marching song, and the cover image shows happy troopers heading for the fight.

Rules
This chess-style game has pieces representing infantry, machine gunners, storm troopers, panzers (tanks) and artillery, supported by a fighter plane, a bomber and a flak (anti-aircraft) gun. Each piece has different powers of movement and attack. The board is an 8 x 10 grid, half in blue and half in red. The only terrain features are a shell hole and a downed bridge on each half, both of which block movement.
