About this game

This variant of Checkers is played on a 9 x 9 board, and pieces are placed and move only on the dark spaces. Each player’s home rows therefore have five available spaces in the back rank and four in the second rank. Each player gets seven destroyers, one flagship, one aircraft carrier and wooden rings to turn destroyers into flagships on reaching the enemy back row.

Mechanism

Move and Capture

Rules

The flagship moves like a checkers king. It moves one space in any diagonal direction. It takes an adjacent enemy piece by jumping over it to an empty space. Destroyers act like normal checkers (forward only), gaining flagship powers if they reach the final rank. The game has small wooden rings that get put onto the destroyer pawns to show their new status. The aircraft carrier may move as many spaces in a line as it wishes and captures by jumping over to a space immediately behind the enemy.
