Dennis Wheatley's Invasion

1938 · United Kingdom · Hutchison & Co./Geographia

Theme: War Strategic

About this game

This is caricature of war in Europe, with Angleland, Franken, Danereich and Ruslavia fighting for dominance. The map is a network of dots that abounds with silly place names (e.g. Donner and Blitz, Spit and Polish). The play is complex, involving land, sea and air units.

Mechanism

Roll, Move and Capture

Rules

Players roll 2D6 in turn to see how many pieces they can move, each by one space. An army pushes back an adjacent enemy; two attacking from different spaces create a corps that can only be affected by another corps. Fleets push back similarly, but two fleets within 2D6 spaces of an enemy can eliminate it. Air units attack at range to disable a fort, sink a fleet or capture an enemy air base. To win, a player must occupy all 4 spaces next to an enemy capital.
