About this game
This e-sugoroku (picture game) tells the classic tale of the 47 Ronin. These samurai became ronin (outcasts) after their lord Asano Naganori was insulted by a powerful official, Kira Yoshinaka. Asano lost his temper and slashed at Kira with his dagger. For drawing his dagger within the shogun's court, Asano was sentenced to commit seppuku, ritual suicide. His retainers plotted revenge, killed Kira and then turned themselves in, voluntarily committing seppuku themselves to atone for their crime.

Sugoroku (Mawari)
Rules
Mawari sugoroku is the most common version of this story-telling gambling game. Players roll dice to move along a clockwise spiral track from lower right to the centre. The first to reach the centre wins. It is similar to the many European variations of Game of Goose, where players advance counter-clockwise along a 63-space track starting in the lower left.
